The following information and photographs are displayed as a service to anyone researching yacht types. HOWEVER THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE COVERED BY COPYRIGHT, AND MAY NOT BE REPRODUCED WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF YACHTSNET LTD. Details and photographs are normally based on one specific yacht, but could be a compilation. No reliance should be placed on other yachts of the same class being identical.  Where common variations exist, we have endeavoured to indicate this in these archive details.  The price guide covers the normal ranges of age and condition. Exceptional boats, whether good or bad, may fall outside these guidelines.

The Parker 275 offers very high performance and good accommodation, plus the ability to use drying moorings. * The price guide given by "Yachting Monthly's A-Z of S/H Boats" for these small Parkers is wildly inaccurate - they quote £13,000 to £20,000: we believe our quoted range above is more realistic

Parker 275

The Parker 275 is a development of the successful Ron Holland designed Super Seal 26. When the John Baker built Seal range of lift keel yachts was taken over by Parker Yachts, the design was modified slightly to become first the Super Seal 27, which was then renamed the Parker 27. A new larger moulding was then produced for the Parker 275, and finally the current Parker 285.

The 275 and 285 actually share the same hull moulding, the major difference between the 275 and 285 is that the 285s have an electric keel winch.

Parker Liftkeel Yachts Ltd. ceased trading in summer 2009.

All these boats offer a remarkable combination of sailing performance and cruising accommodation. The hull has the majority of the ballast in the bilges, with a deep, efficient daggerboard style fin keel and fractional rig providing superb windward performance. Offwind the hull is also fast, surfing readily.

Parker 275

The interior, whilst not as spacious as many less performance orientated yachts, is comfortable and very nicely finished, with about 6' headroom. There is a double quarterberth aft, with a fold-down chart table and seat forward of the berth entrance. Opposite this is the galley. The saloon has two settee berths, with a removable table. The two doors forward, separated by the keel box, lead to forecabin and heads.

The saloon table is removable to open up the space in the interior. The boat in the photos above is one of the last 275s, with more lockers and wood trim than earlier boats such as the one pictured at left here

The standard engine is a Yanmar 1GM10, with enough room in the engine compartment to fit a small water tank with calorifier for hot water

The hull has a moulded shaft log for the folding propellor, and with keel and rudder raised draws just 1' 3"

A fairly large sailplan is based on a fractional rig. The boom is fitted with slab reefing, with control lines led aft to the cockpit. The deep fin keel lifts vertically by means of a winch handle on the deck forward of the mast.
