A less common model
than the ubiquitous Sigma 33s, the 292 is a medium sized fast cruiser
with club racing potential. Whilst originally marketed as a yacht
with six berths, two of these are small. The 292s were discontinued
after a while as they proved almost as expensive to build as the
larger models |

The Sigma 292 was designed by David Thomas as
a smaller sister to the very popular Sigma 33 cruiser-racer and
Sigma 33OOD one-design racers. About 30 Sigma 292s were built in
total. She is a modern styled fast cruiser, with a very nicely fitted
out and cleverly designed interior. Although a fully fitted cruiser,
she is a fast yacht - faster for example on handicap than a Contessa
