Brief details

Builder

DAS Yacht Center, Warsaw, Poland

Rare in the UK, but sold in some numbers in Europe, the Ocean 760 is an unusual trailer-sailer with many clever design features, including a transom that drops down to create a bathing platform aft. The interior is very nicely finished, with attractive light woodwork, and has four berths including a fairly large double berth aft, and an enclosed heads compartment.

Ocean 760

Built in Poland from 1999 to 2003, the Ocean 760 is an unusual trailer-sailer, designed by Andrzej Skrzat, who has also designed most of the Delphia range of yachts. The hull has iron ballast laminated in, plus a weighted drop keel, and is powered by an outboard in a cockpit well. The rig is designed to be easily lowered, and the cabin coachroof has a raisable 'pop-top' section to increase headroom to almost 6'. Even with the cabin top in its lowered position, saloon headroom is 5' 5".

The saloon has semi-circular seating around a drop-leaf table, with an open vee-berth in the bow area. Aft there is an enclosed heads compartment and hanging locker to starboard, and a galley unit to port. Whilst most small day sailers or camping cruisers have very spartan interiors, this is very nicely fitted out with lots of light woodwork.

The coachroof top (seen here in its normal lowered position) can if required be raised about seven inches to increase headroom at anchor or when moored - a canvas section then fits in place to weatherproof the sides of the opened section.

Lowered, the cockpit aft end opens out to form a bathing platform

Raised, the curved section of the rear of the cockpit forms extra seating aft.

The outboard is in a well under the starboard side cockpit locker
