While Contessa 32s are beautiful yachts, and a delight to sail, most are now getting old. This however is one of the very rare 'modern' Contessa 32s built since series production stopped in 1982. This yacht has had a major upgrading of the electronics in 2007, and is unexpectedly for sale due to the owner having to go abroad.

The Contessa 32 was designed by David Sadler in 1970, and rapidly became very popular, both as a fast cruiser, and as a one design racing class. Series production by Jeremy Rogers Ltd. continued until 1982, by which time over 500 had been built. In 1996 Rogers once again started very limited series production - a new Contessa 32 from Rogers now costs over £130,000 for a basic boat.

The seaworthiness of Contessa 32s is legendary, and the stability curve of the C32 is regularly used by magazines as a benchmark by which to compare other yachts (everything else always showing up unfavourably)

This particular yacht was built on a hull moulded by Bridgland Moulders of Norwich (who mould Oyster yachts, amongst others), and finished by M. J. Slack of Lowestoft. She was epoxied from new.

Below: The saloon table lowers to form the base of a double berth on the port side of the saloon. Saloon headroom is about 5' 10" by the galley and chart table, slightly more under the hatch by the aft end of the table.

The photo below is of the engine just before it's removal in March 2008 - it is currently having a complete rebuild carried out by a Volvo service agent. Although running well, it was slow to start, and somewhat smoky. A compression test revealed lwo compression. The engine is thus having a complete rebuild.

The photos of the boat on a swinging mooring are from 2007, just before the radar and new instruments were fitted. All other photos are from February 2008
