The Invicta is a Folkboat type yacht built in GRP, with elegant lines and excellent sailing and seakeeping performance. This 1966 example has been in the same ownership for 16 years, and is for sale now as the owner is looking for larger. The hull was epoxied in 2002 after checking that moisture levels were acceptable, the standing rigging was renewed in 2002, and the engine had a factory service/rebuild in 2005/6

The Invicta 26 was designed by E. G. van de Stadt in 1964, as a GRP Folkboat derivative. For several years the hulls were moulded by Tylers, and fitted out by a variety of well-known boatyards. From 1969 a Mk II version was produced, with a trace more headroom, and the later hulls were moulded by Fi-Craft of Essex, and fitted out either by Fi-Craft or Salterns Yacht Agency. Production continued until the late 1970s, and the yachts have become somewhat of a modern classic. There were Mk I and Mk II Invictas, this yacht being a Mk I. The Mk IIs have a fractionally raised deck line, to increase interior space slightly.

The hull form is very much that of a Folkboat type, but with more interior space, although the narrow beam makes the interior small by modern standards.

The forepeak has no berths, there being sail stowage, and a marine WC under a lifting panel. The saloon has two berths forward, with the forward ends extending into trotter boxes, with a removable table. Aft there are quarterberths on both sides, with a chart table to starboard and galley to port

The saloon headlining is an interior GRP moulding

The galley has a two-burner and grill gas stove, with the gas bottle in the locker under the sink.

The RCA Dolphin 12 hp inboard petrol engine was removed and taken to the Dolphin factory in 2006. The engine was stripped, checked, and some parts replaced, although very little needed to be done.

This drives a two-bladed prop via a centrifugal clutch. These engines are still made in small numbers, and are chosen for light weight, and quiet and smooth running compared to a small diesel.
