Trapper Yachts was formed in 1970 when Deacons Boatyard took over Anstey Yachts, and renamed the company Trapper Yachts. Trapper produced a range of boats including the 500 and 501, and the C&C 35, mostly to designs by the Canadian firm of Cuthbertson and Cassian.

Paul Anstey then redesigned the deck and coach roof for the C&C 35, and also created a centreboard option, and this was marketed as the Trapper 700. It was supplied with fixed keel or centreboard options.

The Trapper 700 is one of the very few performance-orientated yachts available of this size with a centreboard, making it a very practical fast cruiser, particularly in these days of difficulty finding deep water moorings.

The upholstery throughout was renewed in 2006. The centreboard is raised by a winch on the coachroof by the cockpit, which raises a wire led through the S/S tube seen here in the forward part of the saloon. Saloon headroom is 6' 1".

The forecabin has a vee-double berth, with a sink and lockers.

The table on the port side of the saloon drops to form a double berth 79" x 44". A 79" settee berth is opposite, and the quarterberth is 74" long. The forecabin, in 'double' mode, is 76" long by 73" at the aft end.
