A classic fast cruiser-racer from the 1970s/80s, the Seacracker 33 was also known as a Trintella IIA and Tyler Tufglas 33. Like all Van de Stadt designs, they have an excellent reputation for performance and seaworthiness. In many ways they are comparable to the Contessa 32, although slightly longer, narrower and heavier. This yacht was extensively refitted internally by her present, very experienced, owner from 1996 onwards.

The Seacracker 33 and Trintella IIA designs are essentially the same boat, designed by Van de Stadt in 1965 as a fast seaworthy cruiser-racer. The Trintellas were originally built in Holland by Anne Wever, and in the early 1970s the design was taken up by Tylers of Rochester in Kent, the UK-built boats being very slightly more heavily constructed than the Dutch versions. Just 12 Seacracker 33s were built by Tylers before they changed the name to the Tufglas 33 in 1976. Production of these continued until 1978 when a fire at the factory destroyed the moulds. Tyler hulls and part complete boats were sold to many yards for fit-out, and this yacht appears to have been one of the hulls sold out of the yard, as although the hull plate shows her to be a "TG33", the launch date is believed to be 1982.

Externally, they resemble Contessa 32s and S&S 34s, with moderate beam, long overhangs, and a wineglass section fin and skeg hull with an excellent ballast ratio, all these characteristics producing good seagoing performance with high ultimate stability.

The forecabin berths are 6' 4" long on the vee, with an infill (not shown) to make a double.
The heads compartment is between saloon and forecabin, with a pull-out washbasin
over the marine WC, with a hanging locker opposite,

Saloon headroom is approx. 5' 10" aft . The two saloon settee berths are 6' 3" long,
with the aft ends extending into trotter boxes unsder teh chart table and galley

As these boats are inevitably compared to Contessa 32s, the interior appears perhaps slightly larger than the Contessa, this impression aided by the greater headroom aft under the doghouse, and on this yacht in particular by the fold-away saloon table

This is a very well sorted and well equipped example of a classic fast cruiser. If you are looking at Contessa 32s or similar boats, look also at these less well known but equally fast and seaworthy yachts.
