Designed by Bill Dixon, the Moody 54 was introduced at the January 2000 London Boat Show, and was immediately successful. The design brief was for a fast ocean cruising yacht with ease of handling for two, hence all three sails of her cutter rig being on furling gear, with the staysail being a self tacker. Production continued until 2004, by which time 55 had been built.

Electrically powered primary and halliard winches and a 10hp bow thruster also help make a yacht of this size a practical proposition for a couple to handle.

Built and fitted out by Marine Projects and Princess Yachts for Moody, the interior has a large and very open saloon, with two main cabins, each with an en-suite heads and separate shower compartment.
