This Van de Stadt designed steel sloop offers a low cost blue water capable boat. Although old, much restoration work has already been done by her present owners, including shotblasting, repainting and some re-welding where necessary. She has a good engine and new standing rigging, and is for sale now only as a young family are making too many demands on the time of the present owners.

The Cumulant is a hard chine steel design by Ricus van de Stadt, of Holland, who was one of the world's foremost yacht designers from the 1930s to the late 1970s. The design house he founded is still in existence - see stadtdesign.com

The hull is hard chine, of welded steel, the plating being 4mm below the deck, and 3mm in the superstructure. In 2000 the hull was been shotblasted back to bare metal, ultrasonic tested, and some thin plating areas welded. She was then repainted with epoxy.

If you are looking for long-distance sailing on a budget, this might well be the boat for you. She still needs some work, but most of the important bits are already sorted....
