A solid long-keel cruising yacht from Trident Marine, Warrior 35s are very highly regarded as a blue water cruiser, with many long-distance passages to their credit. This 1967 boat is very fully equipped, and has had a major internal refit, including a virtually totally rebuilt saloon interior in light oak joinery. The hull was epoxied in 2000.

Trident Marine have produced three variations on the same Angus Primrose designed 35 foot hull, the Warrior (centre cockpit), Challenger (aft cockpit) and Voyager (pilothouse) versions. These yachts had an incredibly long production run, from the late 1960s through the 70s and 80s. A very few were still being built up until around 2001.

They are sought after as blue water cruisers. With their long keel, moderate draught and displacement, and excellent ballast ratio, they are a good GRP interpretation of a traditional cruising yacht.

Whilst the Challenger and Voyager variants have fairly conventional angular coachroofs and deckhouses, the centre-cockpit Warrior 35 has very distinctive rounded curves to the fore and aft ends of the coachroof structures. Off the three layouts, the Warrior 35 is the design most used as a long-distance cruiser.

Most Warrior/Challenger/Voyager yachts were fitted with Mercedes 36 hp diesels when new: this yacht has been re-engined with a marinised Peugeot 1760cc diesel, giving 54 hp.

Above: This yacht has a bow thruster fitted, making marina manouevring of the long keel hull much easier

The forepeak has vee-berths, the two singles either side being 6' 6" long, with an infill to make a double

Photographs November 2006

The dinette in the saloon is convertible to a 6' 0" by 4' 5" double.

Saloon headroom is 6' 1" to 6' 2"

The aft cabin has two single berths, access to the aft cabin being via the cockpit

The engine is under the cockpit sole, and is a 1,760 cc marinised Peugeot diesel, delivering 54 hp

Photographs November 2006

The aft deck has davits for a dinghy. The Hydrovane self-steering gear (shown here with windvane and rudder blade detached) has now been removed and fitted to the owners new boat.

With a very complete inventory, this Warrior 35 is for sale now as the owners have just taken delivery of a brand new yacht
