Despite the name the Nauticat 37 is not a catamaran, but a beautifully finished serious cruising yacht from Siltala Yachts of Finland. The design is clearly aimed at "two couples" sailing, with two really good sleeping cabins and two heads. The raised aft deck gives one of the best island berth aft cabins of any yacht of her size - and also many bigger yachts. This 2002 example has in-mast reefing, electric winches and a near-new full suite of Raymarine electronics. Ashore in Cumbria, but due to be relaunched fairly shortly.

Siltala Yachts was founded in the 1950s, but made it's name with tough seaworthy motor-sailers in the 1960s, starting with the Nauticat 33. From the 1990s onwards they launched a parallel range of designs to these motor-sailers with modern sailing hull forms and much better sailing performance. The first of these were the Nauticat 39 and 42, and in 2002 a completely new design, the Nauticat 37 was introduced. The Nauticat 37 was designed by Kaj and Patrik Gustafsson, and this yacht for sale is hull no 1 from 2002.

Nauticat 37s are semi-custom boats, with a number of choices of accommodation layouts and rigs. This yacht has a superb double aft cabin, with en-suite heads, and a spacious double forecabin with separate heads. The raised seating position in the deck saloon offers good views around when seated. The interior is beautifully finished in teak, with lots of storage lockers. With a second engine control in the deck saloon, and autopilot control via the MFD plotter screen, the boat can also be helmed from inside.

The hull has a deep lead keel and rudder on a partial skeg, with feathering prop and a bowthruster. The rig is a sloop rig with a second "Solent stay" forestay just aft of the forestay, both of which have roller reefing. The two primary cockpit winches are electric, and the mainsail is in-mast, also with an electric halyard winch.
