This yacht was built in 1983 & designed by Van De Stadt. It has an electric lifting bulb keel, and a Volvo 9.5 diesel engine with Saildrive. This is a 5 berth bermudan rigged yacht with oven and 2 gas rings, separate marine WC and chart table.

I sail it from the Orwell, as did the previous owner. I bought Hercule in 2001 having previously sailed a Jaguar 21. For the majority of time I single hand Hercule with ease and therefore all the main sheets go back to a spacious self draining cockpit. It has Lewmar self tailing sheet winches and a Plastimo furling headsail system. She performs well in both light and high winds. Her lifting keel allows access to shallow anchorages as well as dealing with high seas!

It is constructed from GRP with a double skin which is deemed “unsinkable”!
Reasons for selling: The main reason is that I have suffered with knee problems and have now had both knees replaced. As I normally single hand sail this has proved a problem and not as safe as I would like.

The boat is really attractive with a cream hull with red anti-foul and some features in red. Aluminium mast and blue dodgers and cockpit cover.

Equipment (too much to list it all but as I am giving up sailing it is FULLY equipped even down to knives & forks!) 2 anchors (main one with recent chain), 2 new batteries & compass, Recent depth, VHF & GPS. Brand new and installed but never used auto pilot. Replaced this year the wooden locker covers. It has a log, fire equipment, hull legs, flares, gas bottle, and a variety of ropes and fenders etc.

In 2002 I replaced most of the aluminium stanchions and last year the plastic windows.
I have now anti fouled the boat and winterised the engine, the boat is nearly ready for sailing once the mast is up and the engine de-winterised. I have not done that yet as it allows for easier inspection.

I also have, but not included in the sale is a tender, 2 hp outboard, wheels and a never been used inflatable.

It is at present out of the Water in Melton near Woodbridge near the end of the Deben. This is where it has always been over wintered since buying the boat.
