This Westerly 33 is a much-travelled example of these solid, powerful cruising yachts. In the same ownership for over 25 years, she has been used for family cruising, and the present owner also sailed her in the OSTAR single-handed transatlantic race in 2009, finishing third in class. She has a good inventory including a full cockpit tent with windows, radar and autopilot, and the hull had a full osmosis treatment in 2017/18. Price reduced as the owner has now bought his next boat.

The Westerly 33 was the bigger, beamier and heavier successor to the long-running Longbow/Renown/Berwick/Pentland 31 foot range, and retained the distinctive bow knuckle of most of the earlier Laurent Giles designed GRP Westerlys. The Westerly 33 design was introduced in 1977, and over 200 were built before it was replaced by the very similar Discus in 1980, which used the same hull moulding, and continued in production until 1984. Most were ketch-rigged, although sloops were also produced, and they were sold with fin or bilge keel options. "Yachting Monthly" has described them as ".... substantial, safe and comfortable seaboats, popular with families for extended cruising".

With as powerful a diesel as most similar sized motor-sailers, they are nevertheless good sailing yachts, particularly in the fin-keeled models. This yacht is the sloop rigged fin keel version, with a feathering prop to aid sailing ability.
