Designed by Peter Williams of the Buchanan design office, this yacht is a simply beautiful one-off classic cruiser-racer. Although from Buchanan, she is not quite typical of Buchanan designs. The designer, Peter Williams, had previously worked for Kim Holman, and there may well be some Holman influence in her lines, with more sheer and greater beam than most Buchanans, as well as firmer bilges.

Built to Lloyds 100A1, she was one of the last traditional wooden boats built by Priors, and she remains in exceptionally good condition.

She is planked with iroko for the garboards and lower five planks, and mahogany planking above, copper and bronze fastened onto Canadian Rock Elm frames with an iroko backbone. She has bronze strap floors and hanging knees. The laid teak deck is now painted to protect the teak from wear, and she has varnished teak coachroof and cockpit coamings.

We sold this boat to her present owner, and so know her ownership history for the last 28 years at least. She has now had four owners in 37 years.

A Poole harbour mooring may be available to rent if required with this yacht

Photographs April 2010

The interior layout is totally conventional, with a vee-berth forecabin, and heads compartment and hanging lockers forward of the saloon. When first built she had a pilot berth above the saloon settee to port, but this has been turned into locker and stowage space. Aft is the galley to port and chart table and quarterberth to starboard, with a front-opening fridge built into the space below the chart table.

The electric anchor windlass is fitted in a box on deck, with the chain leading to the under-forecabin-berth chain locker via an angled chain pipe

Below:

A single-spreader alloy mast has fittings for twin spinnaker poles,
and Profurl reefing for the headsail. She has slab reefing with a rod kicker, with lines led aft to the cockpit.

The two photos here showing her moored to a pontoon are from three years ago

This is a really good example of a traditional wooden yacht, built to high standards by a quality yard, and well looked after by owners who have cruised her fairly extensively, and maintained her without penny-pinching.
