The Malo 36 is a really high quality yacht offering an excellent balance of sailing performance, seakeeping and comfortable and beautifully finished accommodation. She has a fixed windscreen aided by clear screens to the "targa" arch, which also neatly contains the mainsheet, giving plenty of protection to the cockpit, with a full cover extension for use in harbour. This is a well looked after one owner boat, that feels bigger than her 36 ft nominal length, both on deck and down below.

Sailplan

The Malö 36 was designed by Leif Ängermark and 102 were built built by Malö between 1996 to 2006, with minor changes during that period. Malö Yachts is now part of the Sweden Yachts Group, which also manufactures Sweden Yachts, CR Yachts and Regina of Vindö yachts, all high quality Scandinavian builders.

The Malö 36 yachts were built with two stern options, this yacht having the standard modern style "sugarscoop" stern with bathing platform. The other option was an extended counter stern which had no bathing platform, and made the overall length slightly greater. The replacement model in 2007/8 was the generally very similar Malö 37, which is now the smallest yacht in the range.

The hull and decks are balsa sandwich GRP construction with both orthopthalic and isopthalic resins, with isopthalic gelcoat. All stringers are fully laminated to the hull, and the keel is lead. The decks and coachroof have 12mm laid teak covering. The interior joinery is in typical Scandinavian style beautifully finished, with lots of stowage. The boat is clearly designed for comfort for two or four crew, and the forward cabin is probably the owner's choice.

These yachts were built as serious cruisers, to be a seaworthy passagemaker for a small crew that will be in as much comfort and style as possible in a 36 foot yacht.

Forecabin

On the Malo 36 the forecabin is clearly intended as the "owners" cabin, with excellent stowage in lockers, cubbyholes and drawers.
